Create beautiful Borax crystal flowers with simple materials. This fun and educational activity is perfect for both kids and adults.

Ingredients

  • Pipe Cleaner
  • Small flowers (artificial or real)
  • Borax powder
  • Very hot water
  • Glass containers
  • String or additional Pipe Cleaner stems
  • Pencil or stick
  • Spoon

Instructions

  1. Twist the pipe cleaners around the flower stems or use them to support the flowers.
  2. Tie a string or pipe cleaner to each flower and secure it to a pencil.
  3. Place the pencil across the top of a glass so the flower hangs inside without touching the sides.
  4. Fill the glass with very hot water and stir in Borax until fully dissolved.
  5. Carefully lower the flower into the solution.
  6. Let the glass sit undisturbed for several hours or overnight.
  7. Remove the flower and let it dry to reveal the sparkling crystals.

Notes

Use clear glass containers to watch the crystal growth process. Experiment with different flowers and colors of pipe cleaners for unique effects.
